• When buying ice cream, don’t buy a sticky container. The ice cream might have thawed at one time and been refrozen.
• When grocery shopping, pick up your carton of ice cream last. Some stores have a convenient layout with dairy and frozen foods located at one end of the store. Start at the opposite end and work your way toward the frozen foods.
• To prevent opened cartons of ice cream from forming ice crystals, place a piece of plastic wrap right on the surface of the ice cream, making it as airtight as possible. Close the carton well and return to the freezer. Ice cream tastes fresher when sealed properly.
• For an elegant touch, serve ice cream from a carton in slices instead of scoops. An electric knife works well and the slices make a beautiful presentation for a crowd.
