“I'll admit right now, I didn't want to have my baby in a hospital. 1 have strong feelings about what childbirth should be, not for me, but for my new baby. 1 wanted her birth as natural as possible, but once I developed gestational diabetes, 1 wanted the safety we could both enjoy at Culpeper Regional Hospital.

“I feared that when things got intense, they’d revert to their standard procedures and forget the special considerations we’d discussed. But they never did. They didn’t simply tolerate my wishes, they supported me. When it came time to push, I was surrounded by a ring of nurses who all were encouraging me. They were so flexible, and 1 had the kind of childbirth experience I’d hoped for. Culpeper Regional has created an atmosphere where new moms are respected. I think that’s pretty wonderful.’’

"The best medicine my doctor

practiced was listening."
