From 1970 to 2000, the total population of Rappahannock County increased 34 percent. However, the percentage increase in the Jackson District in those decades was two to three times the county’s overall population growth.
Jackson district, which encompasses Amissville, increased 38.3 percent from 1970 to 1980, compared to the county increase of only 17.2 percent. During 1980 to 1990, Jackson increased 20.4 percent versus 8.7 percent for the county, and during 1990 to 2000 Jackson district increased 18.1 percent versus 5.5 percent for the county.
