Flea Market on Aug. 30

Mark calendars now for the Second Annual Rappahannock County Flea Market on Saturday, Aug. 30 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Washington Fire Hall. The event is sponsored by the Rappahannock County Democratic Committee.

On sale will be pottery, dishware, framed pictures, costume jewelry, yard equipment, ethnic objects, childrens’ toys, decorative items, musical instruments, tools, kitchen ware, pet equipment, sporting goods, small furniture, linens and fabrics, holiday decorations and bric-a-brac. Refreshments will be available at the Fire Hall.

Donations may be brought to the Washington Fire Hall on Friday, Aug. 29 from noon until 7 p.m. Those who need someone to pick up their items, contact Maggie Francis (9878291), Gloria Allen (547-4621) or Linda Dietel (675-3826). Please do not donate clothing, books or used appliances.

Celebrate fruits of summer

The Epicurious Cow invites everyone to join in its second annual celebration of the tomato on Saturday, Aug. 23 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at its market in Ben Venue at the intersection of Route 211 and Route 729. This event will feature 15 different varieties of tomatoes which will be paired with seven types of goat cheeses from around the world. Wines will be offered at a tasting. Civil War meeting

The monthly meeting of the Blue Ridge Civil War Round Table will be Aug. 19 at the Rappahannock County Library. Robert Moore, author of “Avenue of Armies," will speak on Luray and Page County Civil War history at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.

For those not familiar with the area the Rappahannock Library is located off Route 211. Look for Route 683 (Library Road) just before getting into Little Washington.

CPR Classes

Red Cross classes will be held on Aug. 22 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on adult CPR and on Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on infant and child CPR. On Aug. 23 classes will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on First Aid and Safety. All classes will be at the Red Cross Building at 146 N. Main Street, Culpeper. The -Lord Fairfax Community College Dental Hygiene Class is now accepting patients. If you would like to have your teeth cleaned including a complete dental exam, call 8687062 or 868-7140. These services are free of charge.
