In other discussion the board addressed recently created goals for the 2003-04 school year such as graduation of seniors in the face of new SOL requirements, SOL pass rates, decision-making for the coming year and strengthening the system of communication.
These goals were created with input from a large section of individuals, including faculty, students and parents. Concerns about their structure were rampant however.
"It's all good information," said Chairman Wesley Mills, "but I find it confusing. I'm not sure what to do with this information. I like to put things into little boxes and I'm not sure where to put some of these things."
In addition to the structure of the ideas, he was also concerned by the omission of last year's goals and items which the school system had hoped to add on to in the coming year.
