Located outside the village of Middleburg Chrysalis Vineyards is one of the finest wineries on the East Coast, specializing in unusual Spanish and French grapes.

By combining the best of modem techniques with the traditional handcrafted winemaking methods of the Old World, the winery produces some outstanding world-class wines.

Under the guidance of award-winning winemaker Alan Kinne, the sixyear old winery produced two excellent white wines in its first year — a mellow Chardonnay and a robust and fruity Viognier. Over the years, McCloud has had great success growing varietals that perform well in Virginia soils.

Private tours cost $8. Wine-tasting is free.

Light food runs anywhere from $1.50 to $15. Wine by the glass costs $4.25 to $8.50 and by the bottle from $13 to $35.

Open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. year round (except key holidays).
