Freyda grew up in the Boston area and performed with several groups there until she moved to West Virginia in 1980 to join Trapezoid. Her harmonies with Lorraine Duisit were magically intertwined— each knowing what the other was about to do before they themselves knew. The kind of harmony singing that only happens between sisters.
Together the created a unique and emotional sound that made Trapezoid one of the most popular acoustic groups in the country. During her time with the band, they performed in over 1,000 concerts and recorded three albums together as well as a dozen more with other artists such as John McCutcheon and Holly Near. When the band moved to the Virginia area in 1985, Freyda settled in Charlottesville.
She quickly found a home in the thriving acoustic music scene in Charlottesville. In between Trapezoid tours, she became a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique
