Family reunion
The annual family reunion of the late Henry T. Wharton and Lillie Cloud Wharton will be held Sept. 6 at the Rappahannock Park, starting at 10:30 a m. Family and friends are welcome. Bring a picnic basket and enjoy the day.
Butler for Sheriff rally
Steve Butler, local candidate for Rappahannock County Sheriff, will be at the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department at 945 Fodderstack Road to meet with community residents on Aug. 16 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Complementary "cook-out style" food will be served. Butler will address guests at 6 p m. A question and answer period will follow.
Thornton Hill Hounds

The Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection will sponsor "An Astronomical Event" on Sunday, Aug. 31 at the Washington Fire Hall at 8:30 p.m. Mars is only 145 times the distance to the moon from earth and you may want to get a good look at it. The next time this planet will be as close is 284 years from now. This is a family event. Light refreshments will be served. Binoculars and telescopes will be available.
