By Bruce Sloane Special to the Rappahannock News We were by a small cliff along a back road near the town of Washington. Dr. Richard Tollo put down a sledge hammer and wiped the sweat off his face. We picked up some fresh fragments he had chipped from the rock and carefully examined them through our hand lenses. Dr. Tollo is associate professor of earth sciences at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Council members will tour the Sperryville wastewater treatment plant at 6:30 p.m. and members of the public may attend.
