Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School stand-out Matt Gore ended senior year by signing with Lamar University.
The 6’ 3” 180 pound right hander finished his senior year with a 11-2 record and a 1.02 earned run average.
Gore is the son of Milton and Linda Gore of Mauriceville, Texas and 603 Gid Brown Hollow Road in Washington. He is the grandson of the late Milton Gore, Sr., and the late Amy Gore of Washington.
“Matt has a good arm and is a good-looking athlete,” Lamar coach Jim Gilhgan said. “He already has a slider that’s Division I ready, and I expect him to continue to get better.”
“I knew Lamar had some interest so of course that makes you work harder,” explained Gore.
“That is motivation in itself and it does push you. I just tried my best, they saw that and now I get to play with them.”
During his senior year, Gore pitched 71 innings, allowed just 43 hits and struck out 103 batters.
