But if he is a millionaire businessman, why doesn’t he pay an army of workers to do the farming, cut the hay, plant the flowers, and shoot the vermin, and whatnot? Isn’t that how it is supposed to be?
There are two reasons why, he says:
“One, because nobody we ever hired—and I was paying $20,000 a month when we lived where we used to in Fauquier County—did the job the way I wanted it done. And two, if you have a tenant farmer bring in your hay, your property looks like hell because they get to you when they get to you. It’s better to do it yourself.”
