For instance, she says that this year the look that is most in style includes “big eyes and a doll’s face.” Her look, she says, is “European and New^fork,” which at the moment means clean-cut and girl-next-door.
It is just as well that she fits the “in” look right now. She cbuld never be an astronaut.
This does not mean what it sounds like. Ruth Ann wanted to be an astronaut when she was little, growing up in Rappahannock at her parents’, Jim and Evelyn, farm in Castleton. A cousin told her that astronaut# could not wear glasses, and she wore glasses, but the same cousin said she was cute and should be a model.
She has always had a theatrical bent that may have copie from her mother, who teaches music and music appreciation at Wakefield Country Day School, and is a voice teacher. Each of Ruth Ann’s
three brothers and two sisf ters either sings or plays a i musical instrument. Ruth Ann has studied ballet for 12 years, she sings beautifully,
including the National k Anthem at this year’s grad
