After the war, he earned a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, after which he taught mathematics at West Point. After serving in Korea, he graduated from the National War College and later served as commander of the 36th Artillery Group in Germany, retiring in 1969 to Alexandria, Va., where he remained a lifetime resident.
He became active in conservative political causes, running as a Republican delegate to the Virginia House of Delegates from the 8th Congressional District in 1975. He served as a delegate for Ronald Reagan at the Republican National Convention in 1976.
