The Board of Zoning Appeals unanimously approved a variance on setback regulations for Levi Atkins last Thursday, legalizing the house that Atkins had already built just 30 feet from the Highway Department property line on Route 211. “When you give & man a job to do, you let him do it and then hold him strictly accountable for his performance,” stated new School Board member Robert Eastham at his first meeting last Tuesday, July 10. Eastham, in suggesting that Superintendent William Bloomer be given more opportunity to direct school affairs, introduced a resolution calling for board meetings to be limited to the 12 monthly sessions required by law.
