The Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock Farm Fair concluded a week of early mornings, late nights, grand champions and many ribbons with its livestock sale on July 9 and a weirds ceremony on July 11 at the Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises.
Participants from Rappahannock included Kevin Riedel, Adam Rhein, Robert Falls, Timmy Jenkins and Caroline Massie.
Riedel received Reserve Grand Champion Pen of Two in the Swine Show. He also received a third, fourth and sixth for his market hogs classes. Riedel also exhibited meat goats. Rhein received a first, second and seventh for his market hogs.
Falls received a third and Jenkins received a fourth in their respective classes. Massie received the Grand Champion Market Hog and the Reserve Grand Champion Market Hog. She also received the Outstanding Swine Exhibitor and the County Farm Service Youth of the Year Award. Massie received a third and fourth place for her market steers. She also received first place in Junior Showmanship.
Receiving many ribbons in the Home Economics Department were Laura Wheatley, Megan Wheatley, Sarah Wheatley, Devin Day, Carly Day, Anne Ashleigh Lamma, Megan Smith, Caroline Massie, Hazel Zinn Day, Frank Zinn and Ann Zinn.
A special thanks goes to the Inn at Little Washington, Chris Johns, Merrill Strange, Barbara Sherwood and John Kirschner for their donation of raffle items to support the 4-H Livestock
