The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors last Wednesday unanimously authorized the sale of a $4 million bond for the largest school construction project in two decades, opening the way for a new era at Rappahannock County schools.
The program expands athletic facilities, air conditions elementary school space and adds much needed new classrooms at the elementary school.
The vote came at the end of a Sept. 8 public hearing attended by some 35 people, despite howling winds and rain from tropical storm Frances as it moved north. Supervisor Bryant Lee, who led the winning vote, said the money “will take care of things we’ve been talking about for 12 years.” The audience cheered as the five supervisors completed their voting.
