was chosen to be his vice chair. I was able to see Kent in action, up close. I was consistently impressed with his understanding of politics and evenhanded way of dealing with issues and people. Then, after I was elected chair and, in my second term, Kent became my vice chair, he continued his efforts with the same resolve and energy and was a constant source of wisdom and inspiration.
