The wearing of jerseys on game day is a popular practice in area high schools, especially among cheerleaders and football players, and one that Rappahannock County High School students have grown accustomed to in the three years their school has had a football team.
But the practice is not necessarily the rule.
Some schools, like Warren County and Clarke County for example, do allow it. Others, like Liberty High School in Fauquier County, have a policy against any student wearing school-owned equipment to class.
The wearing of jerseys at Rappahannock High School became an issue last week and students, coaches and the new athletic director are at odds.
First-year Rappahannock Athletic Director J.D. Almond wants to make one thing perfectly clear.
