Coates reunion
The Ed Coates reunion will be held Sunday, Sept. 19 at the Rappahannock Recreation Park. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Bring your favorite dish and join in the fun. For more information call Frances Thornhill, 987-8100.
Music lessons
Musical instrument and voice lessons will begin soon for both students and adults. Current students and recent graduates from Shenandoah Conservatory will teach weekly halfhour lessons in piano, voice, flute, clarinet, French Horn, trumpet, saxophone, trombone, tuba, baritone and percussion (drums and mallets). Lessons are $12 per session, and will be given in the RCHS band room after school and in the evenings. A few scholarships are available to school band members for lessons. Woodville picnic
All current and past Woodville residents and friends are invited to the 13th annual Woodville Festival/Town Picnic on Saturday, Sept. 18 from 3 p.m. until dark on the Blue Ridge Overlook off of Red Oak Mountain Road. Hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks will be provided. Dinner begins at 4:30 p.m. Please bring a side dish to share. Live music will be provided. Music festival
The ninth annual Rappahannock Music Festival will be held Sept.18-19 in Sperryville at the Oldway Arts Center. The outdoor performances of local artists begin each day at 12:30 p.m. and end just after dark. Admission and parking are free. T-shirts commemorating the event will be on sale with proceeds to cover the expenses of producing this year’s concert. Motorcycle run
American Road Motorcycles (ARM) Fall Open House and Poker Run will be held Sept.19. Registration is 9:30-10:30 a.m. at ARM in Amissville. The ride will go through Rappahannock, Culpeper and Fauquier counties. Proceeds benefit the American Red Cross Florida hurricane victims. All donations welcome. Music by Crossroadz. Community drum circle
A community drum circle will be held Sunday, Sept. 19 from 4-6 p.m. at Hearthstone School in Sperryville. No experience is necessary. There will be available instruments to share, or bring your own. Suggested donation is $5-10, and children are free. For more information, call 987-8417.
Shepherds1 play tryouts
Tryouts for roles in this year’s production of the Shepherds’ Play will be held Sunday, Sept.19 and 26 from 2-4 p.m. at the Ki Theatre. Anyone interested in a starring role, a minor part, or just a chorus role should come to the tryouts or call Betsy Toth at 349-0632 to arrange another time. Musicians are also wanted. Civil War talk
Local historian Jim Flanagan will speak on ‘The Horse in the Civil War" on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at the Blue Ridge Civil War Roundtable meeting at the Rappahannock County Library. Everyone is invited. Flanagan is a retired high school teacher, President of the Fauquier County CWRT, and Vice President of the Brandy Station Foundation. Weaving classes
The Fiber Studio at Misty Mountain Farm will host beginning weaving classes starting Sept. 23 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Classes will be held every Thursday for five weeks.
