The Rappahannock County High School girls’ soccer Panthers fell to Augusta County’s Wilson Memorial Hornets on April 25, losing 4-1.
Rapp’s Camilla Holte scored the solo goal for the home team and according to coach J. C. Maldanano, could have scored three more, but the Hornet’s goalie was too powerful and stopped the attempts.
“Camilla’s goal was a left upper angle of the goalie — very difficult goal even for the pro’s,” Maldanano said, “It was an exceptional goal.”
The team has been playing without goalie Caity Waites for several weeks, due to injury.
“We have missed her, but Anna Kreyling has stepped up well for the team as a goalie,” he said.
The coach praised his team for its numerous attempts to score within the last ten minutes of play, and not giving up on the game.
