For the past seven years, the business has been based in Vermont.
When the couple were married, they combined their four children into one family. By 1998, while living in Vermont, Diane’s dream of one day owning horses became a reality when she purchased her first Arabian.
Over the years, the couple acquired more Arabians and are involved in breeding and training, having claimed three national championships in the past two years. Future in Sperryville

Although the couple has heard concerns throughout the county of this being a “fly-bynight” venture, Diane laughs, saying, “This has been a family owned and operated business for 35 years — we’ve been around longer than Microsoft.”
The projected date for converting the Vermont operation is scheduled for August. The Sanfords will be hiring customer service representatives to work in the Sperryville location at that time.
“We need people who don’t mind giving a lot of individual attention to our customers,” Diane said, adding, “This is a good business for the county — something that has no environmental impact and is a business consistent with the Rappahannock vision.”
