years. Some have gone years only to have this monster rear its ugly face and again put their lives in turmoil — not to mention the stress on the family. Each of these folks has a story to tell and some make me weep.

One example: A young lady was diagnosed wath cancer and she came to the relay with her Mom (who also has cancer) for the first time in 2003. Her mom is a survivor of several years. Up to this point this lady was not familiar with the relay and she was so impressed that she spoke of the desire to learn more about getting a team together of her own. Sadly to say she lost her battle before she could make this wash come true. She left a beautiful young daughter that I had the pleasure to meet at the relay last year. This daughter came and walked with her grandmom. I find it amazing that there are still so many
