instead of floundering around at a larger institution. LFCC has also helped me develop further learning skills needed for college and my future career. It’s been a great transition place.”
Through her courses, she finally settled on education, with the goal of becoming a middle or high school English teacher.
“The teacher preparation course helped me to see what teaching is all about,” Taylor said. “I’m excited about pursuing a career in education, and the courses at LFCC helped guide me to that decision.”
In addition to taking a full load of classes both online and in the classroom, Taylor currently works as a peer tutor for one of the online English composition classes.
She has also worked in . the Learning Assistance Center as a tutor, mostly reviewing English papers and assisting students with reading.
This fall, Taylor will transfer to Liberty University, where she will continue her education, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in English with a teacher certification. She then hopes to return to LFCC and enroll in Old Dominion University’s TELETECHNET program and obtain a master’s degree in education.
“I would love to come back to the county and teaoh, but am leaving my options open as to a future job,” Taylor said. “Right now, I’m just excited to be graduating. I’ve had a wonderful experience at LFCC and can’t say enough good things about the college. It’s been a great place to learn.
