Sunnyside Farm market has been a part of the Town of Washington for close to five years now. Offering everything from their organic beef, to produce, to cheese, to wine, the small store has become an important asset for those unwilling to make the half hour journey to the nearest supermarket.
Located on Gay Street, the store occupies a building that has seen many changes over the years. Originally built in 1835, the building has been home to several retail spaces. Thanks to the care of the building’s current owner, David Cole, great lengths have been gone to in order to restore and preserve the building’s original woodwork. The shelves, drawers, floors and even the large center isle that is home to the candy and baked goods are all original.
Despite the fact that the store really is a piece of the town’s history, it is what is inside the store, and on the shelves that really attracts people. Customers can expect to be greeted by friendly employees and the mouth watering smells of hot coffee, fresh scones and cookies, or even the smell of hot soup or quiche. Thanks to the Sunnyside Kitchen which is located across the parking lot in the Clopton House, the store is able to provide an array of daily prepared foods. The kitchen can also cater.
