Headwaters, Rappahannock County’s Public Education Foundation, recently wrapped up their fifth successful year of summer workshops on Friday, July 29.
Sixty children participated the first week and 47 the seccmd bringing the total to 107 in all.
While camp fees were on a voluntary basis, any contributions by the families of those attending were greatly appreciated.
“These contributions help to offset the costs of the Summer Workshops,” said Headwaters Executive Director Paige Coombs, “and we are truly appreciative to all who helped to make these workshops the huge success that they were again this year.” No child was turned away and bus transportation was provided as well.
Wonderful opportunity
Special focus was placed on children within the community to be provided encouragement and excitement about learning in the summertime
One of the goals is to provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating selection of workshops to get children away from TV, and lounging on the sofa during summer break. These workshops provide a wonderful opportunity for children from very different socio-economical backgrounds to be together.
Some of the county’s top artists and professionals along with several interns have developed an extraordinary menu of classes that was sure to enrich the lives of all who participated.
These workshops were offered at various indoor and outdoor classroom locations. Each workshop ran during the morning from Monday to Friday. There were 15 exciting workshops in all.
