Edwards preliminary
hearing
The preliminary hearing of Waymond James Edwards, Jr. was held in the Rappahannock County Courthouse on July 28. The hearing concerned charges against Edwards of indecent liberties with a child by a person in a supervisory relationship. Edwards was represented by his attorney Huntley Thorpe of Fauquier County and Rappahannock was represented by Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke. Judge H. Dudley Payne found probable cause that a crime had been committed and Edwards will go before the Grand Jury in Rappahannock County on September 12. Edwards earlier pleaded guilty to charges of indecent liberties in Fauquier County and will be sentenced there on September 26.
Cause for alarm
August 2,12:34 p.m.. Washington Fire and Rescue received a call from the Rappahannock County Social Services building concerning a fire on the telephone pole adjoining their building. On investigation it was discovered that the electrical transformer at the top of the pole had caught a nearby tree on fire, which went out quickly of its own accord. There was no
