While driving west along Crest Hill Road on Tuesday, First Sgt. Gary Settle of the Virginia State Police couldn’t help but admire the scenery.

“This is actually a gorgeous drive,” Settle commented as he continued, but looks can be deceiving.

Although they don’t work a lot of motorcycle wrecks on the eastern section of the road, Settle said troopers at the Area 12 Office in Warrenton get plenty of complaints from citizens there who are concerned about noise generated by groups of bikers. Speeding is also an issue, he added.

Generally, the motorcycle enthusiasts accused of creating the ruckus come from Spotsylvania County, Stafford County, Washington, D.C., Maryland and Pennsylvania, Settle said. For the most part, they are heading west to Rappahannock County, where they test their ability and equipment in treacherous errain.
