Packwood was in Munich, Germany, running the wine department of Opus One, an American cuisine restaurant named for the highly regarded Bordeaux style California red wine. Packwood tells us: “The birth of our wine list came from Frank’s (Maragos’) menu. I took what was on the menu and did a wine pairing of possibilities for each item on the menu and that was the original list. “ Initially, the list of 17 reds and 17 whites were spread all over the world, with only a couple regions represented more than once. Since then, he’s been working to slowly expand and deepen the list.

Appetizers range from $9 to $15 and main courses from $18 to $35. They are open Tuesday -Saturday, 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The restaurant has a live pianist on Fridays and Saturdays.
