When their second high school was built in 1994, Liberty was without stadium bleachers. The field was there but no place to sit.
The boosters along with a very active group of citizens rallied to the cause and raised the funds to put them in. They literally rose to the occasion and the field today is flanked by the shiny rows.
There is already some money earmarked for the new track but there needs to be more.
Perhaps instead of looking to make the new track less than it should be, the community needs to look at ways to make it happen and be what it should - a place for not only Rappahannock students to run but for all those students who come from other schools to share our resources.
Chappell and the Board of Supervisors have a tough job trying to make good things happen. Hopefully, they’ll stay on track and perhaps the community will choose to run with them.

Getting started
The newly formed Washington Hospitality and
Visitors Association has held a few meetings
and is looking to add members from the Washington business community as well as those interested in preserving the historic character of the town.
