All afternoon and into the evening, old and new friends came to drink wine, eat some great Italian food and enjoy each other’s company. “We spent the afternoon signing books and talking to people, many of whom we hadn’t seen in years” said Esther Schmidt who added, “we are especially proud of this coffee table style book and it has already made Book-of-the-Month Club.”
Studio Dante, the once rundown and now elegant theater, located near Madison Square Garden, was bought and rehabbed by Emmy Award winning actor, Michael Imperioli and his wife, interior designer, Victoria Imperioli. Victoria, an expert in historic design, contributed a chapter to the book and felt that their 19th century theater would make the perfect setting for this particular book launch. The Imperiolis, who hosted the book launch and signing, had their New York City home photographed by Franklin and Esther Schmidt for a cover feature in “Architectural Digest” in 2003.
