member Robert Anderson, noted that professional mechanics, welders and such often actually work in fairly bare bones pre-fabricated steel structures, and asked why such buildings shouldn’t suffice for classes in automechanics and welding. . Both Chappell and County Administrator John McCarthy briefly suggested that such buildings have too short a lifespan for the purpose. * As the discussion moved on to new track plans, Chappell was asked about alternative tfack bids. Chappell explained that he needed a clear directive from the BOS concerning what they were likely to finance before soliciting bids. McCarthy proposed a simpler tact. “Take a pared down project, something where it is close to just earth moving and asphalt, and I believe we would get more bidders” because more companies would be readily able to do the project.
Sensing consensus, Chairman Charles “Pete” Estes brought the discussion to a close and asked the board if they agreed to authorize Chappell to solicit bids for a pared down track.
