Motorcycle traffic mishaps have taken , the spotlight in Rappahannock the past few days. According to Trooper R. A. Baines, a single-cycle accident occurred Saturday evening or Route 2111 east of Washington. Thomas Lynwood Williams of Culpeper lost control of his 1973 Yamaha near Rose Hill, turned over and skidded down the highway. He was taken to Culpeper Memorial Hospital... a twocycle accident was investigated by the same officer Monday on Route 211 at Ginger Hill. Two cyclists, William Wilkinson and Kenneth Tomkins, both of Ft. Walton, Fla. were traveling east when Wilkinson made an improper turn in front of Tomkins. They collided and both motorcycles went out of control, said Baines, and slid into the median. About $50 damage was done to each machine, Wilkinson’s 1966 Harley Davidson, and Tomkin’s 1965 Harley. Wilkinson was taken to Fauquier Hospital Warrenton... Caught in the same economic crunch that has forced lay-offs and plant shut downs across the country, Aileen, Inc., Rappahannock’s largest single employer, has gone to a four-day week at their Flint Hill facility and will close the doors to their Strasburg plant at the end of August, leaving 190 workers without jobs.
