A group of four Rappahannock County high school students will represent the United States and attend a two-week youth camp in Trogen, Switzerland to experience peace building through sport and play at the world famous Pestalozzi Children’s Village from August 13 through 27, 2005. The UN Special Advisor to the Secretary-General on Sport for Development and Peace, Adolf Ogi, in conjunction with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation are organizing this year’s event in cooperation with the internationally recognized humanitarian organization “Right to Play”.
Switzerland will host 200 youth from 20 countries, ages 13 - 17, from Africa, Europe, the Americas, and Asia. The students will experience first hand, the social values of play and sport through opportunities for intercultural exchange dining their stay.
