Shed gallery decorates the walls of Cinema Paradiso, and underlines the way Kramer and her co-workers feel about film.
“A film is different than a movie. A movie, for example, is Miss Congeniality 2. That’s for the public. We have a wonderful collection of films,” explained June Jordan, who runs the Packing Shed for Kramer and also works at Cinema Paradiso.
“The word “film”seems to put a coat of lacquer on it, when a movie really turns out to have merit,” added Plotnick.
The wonderful collection mentioned by Jordan is devoted largely to video tapes of foreign films, which are particularly prized by Kramer, who is currently in Canada.
The inventory of Cinema Paradiso includes films from all over the world including China, Bulgeria, Iraq and Israel. The focus on foreign film is just part of Cinema Paradiso’s theme of bringing people films outside their normal experience.“The whole magic of films is that they can bring so many viewpoints. Many people around here had never watched a foreign film,” explained Kramer.

Kramer started purchasing videos for her own pleasure 18 years ago, when she had trouble easily finding the kind of films she wanted.
“Joyce couldn’t find what she liked so she started buying videos for herself, and then friends started giving her a dollar or two to borrow them,” eyulained Plotnick.
