Picked up my hunting kfcense the other day. And, yes, I did fix the problem of sitting in front of the keyboard wishing I v^as squirrel hunting. Not quite t£e shot I used to be, but the end result was just fine, and the broth gravy over combread was s$ good. It is very high on my sj&art list of life’s simple pleasures.
I was taken aback when the lady writing up my hunting license said, “You want a crossbow permit?” I had heard it was under discussion, and, to tell you the truth, I really don’t have much of a problem with it. There are plenty of deer, goodness knows. But, hunting is something special to me. It is a part of my upbringing, a part of the culture, as I have said before, and it is a tradition that I very much enjoy. Where is there a tradition of hunting with crossbows? Not in the Virginia where I grew up.
