charges, girls aged 15 and 16 respectively last March. The Rappahannock News has chosen to preserve the anonymity of the victims and their families due to their wishes, the Victims’ ages and the nature of the crimes involved. According to the victims’ testimony, when alone with them Edwards kissed them, fondled their genitals and breasts, and put his hands under their clothes. The families of the victims and Rappahannock Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke, who prosecuted the case, believe that Edwards had plans to go further in his advances on the victims, and that they were part of a calculated progression of sexual abuse.
“He put himself in a .position to have access to these victims. They were premeditated acts one right after the other. These weren’t just happenstance,” said Luke.

Before criminal charges against Edwards surfaced ;n Rappahannock, he was an experienced and well regarded basketball coach in the area. He had coached at Fauquier County High School and for two years at Highland School in Warrenton before coming to WCDS, where he was heralded as the next promising head coach of their girl’s basketball program.
