PUBLIC HEARING: PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE ZONING CHAPTER RELATING TO SEWAGE TREATMENT or WATER PURIFICATION FACILITIES On Monday, December 5, 2005, at 7:00 PM, the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors shall hold a Public Hearing at the Courthouse in Washington, VA, to consider an amendment to the Zoning Chapter of the Rappahannock County Code to adopt additional standards for the issuance of Special Exception permits for private or public sewage treatment or Water Purification facilities. The complete text of the proposed amendment is as follows. The amendment derives from a resolution adopted by the Rappahannock County Planning Commission on October 19. 2005. Add a new section § 170-64 (I) to read: I. Additional Standards for Sewerage Treatment or water Purification facility (public or private) ,(1) Private Sewage Treatment Plants shall be allowed for existing parcels of land only to remediate failed or failing conventional sewage treatment systems. Review and concurrence by the Virginia Departmcnt of Health shall be necessary to determine the status of the existing system and the design of the proposed system. (2) Private Sewage Treatment Plants for new subdivisions shall obtain all approvals as requirt J by the Subdivision Chapter of the Rappahannock County Code, as well as a Special Exception as required under this chapter. In addition, the Rappahannock County Planning Commission shall hold a Public Hearing on the proposed amendments on Wednesday, November 16. 2005 at 7:30 PM at the Courthouse in Washington, Virginia.
