Although he plays frequently as a member of jazz quartets, Harris is best known as a soloist at the keyboard—a special challenge even for talented musicians. The Washingtonian Magazine in a review commented, “Harris’s latest CD, Solo + One, goes down like a well-aged brandy.”
Continuing the accolades, the Washington Post’s “On the Town” columnist Mike Joyce noted: “Instead of flashy displays of technique, Harris’s interpretations of standards are marked by subtle harmonic nuances, lingering phrases, telling silences, and complimentary improvisations.” Concluding his review, the Post columnist noted that Harris has “mastered the art of communicating what he feels makes a piece of music special and lasting.”
