From a field of six chefs, the father and son team of Peter and Case Kramer captured this year’s 4-H Chili Cookoff “People’s Choice” award for their particular brand of chili as a large crowd of chili1 overs sampled chili and cast their vote — by putting money in respective pots — for their favorite.
Kevin Day took home the honors for “Best Chili Booth.”
The parking lot at Rappahannock County High School was packed Sunday afternoon as crowds gathered to eat chili, bid on silent auction items and listen to the blue-grass band sounds of such favorites as Cliff Waldron and the New Shades of Grass.
“We had about 200 people, it was a great success,” said Hazel Zinn-Day, one of the organizers who is already thinking about next year’s cook-off.
