“She isn’t the same,” another victim’s mother said of her daughter. “Basketball is her life and now she’s given up on that future. She’s not as affectionate, she often goes into her room and spends time alone.”
Despite the difficulty of the trial, the families of Edwards’ victims are glad that they came forward.
“It’s painful but it’s the only way we’re gonna heal,” said one victim’s father.
“Had these victims not come forward, there would have been almost an unlimited number of victims fed to Edwards every year,” said Luke
Due to the nature of Edwards profession and the amount of access to young girls that he had for so many years, the families that took Edwards to trial believe there may be other victims that have yet to come forward.
“It takes a while for people to come forward. There’s no statute of limitations, you can still come forward. The families of previous victims would be glad to talk to you,” said one victim’s father.
