The school would have to organize its class scheduling so that participating children would not have class, but study or resource time in which to leave the school and study the bible.

Stephanie Shaw of Sperryville and the Reverend John Heddleston of Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church also spoke in support of the proposal.

Several members of the board expressed doubt about the wisdom or practicality of rearranging class schedules to accommodate the program. Crocker asked Utz whether an after school program might work better. Utz responded that in rural areas, they had found after school programs were problematic because of the need to bus the kids home. The Board took no action on the proposal.
