Peter and Catherine Salvano’s application for rezoning has occupied the attention of the Rappahannock County Planning Commission for the last three months. The Salvanos want to have the house on the east comer of the intersection of the Fodderstack and Route 522 in Flint Hill changed from Village Residential to Village Commercial zoning. They plan to open a shop selling gifts, art and framing and they already have a similar store in Gainesville.
Contrary to initial expectations, the Salvanos said the Flint Hill building would also be their residence if the rezoning is approved. Phil Irwin, Dwight Mathews, Bob Massey, Larry Jensen and other residents of Flint Hill spoke in opposition to the rezoning, as did several residents of other parts of the county.
