September 28, 1930, in Amissville to the late Henry Taylor and Lillie Margaret Cloud Whorton.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired carpenter foreman from Washington, D.C.
Mr. Whorton is survived by his wife, Leona Gwiii Wharton; a son, Floyd Ervin Whorton of Linden; a daughter, Florence Leona McCarty of Delaplane; six grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
Additional survivors include three sisters, Eunice Whorton of Amissville, Mary Dodson of Front Royal, and Ressie Utz of Falling Water, W. Va.; and a brother, Frank Baylus Whorton of Centreville.
A funeral sendee was held November 19 at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock. A burial with military honors by Woodstock American Legion Post 199 followed at Sunset View Memorial Gardens, Woodstock.
