Thanksgiving
thoughts
Most of us will be sitting around a
Thanksgiving table somewhere tomorrow
celebrating this traditional day of thanks with family and friends.
We'll be feasting sumptuously whether slaving in the kitchen is involved or someone else slaving in a restaurant kitchen .
We will be serving or being served, prayers may be said and some families may take turns going around the table and verbalizing the many reasons they have to be thankful for their lives.
When the last bits of stuffing are stuffed away in a thousand stomachs and the crumbs from a myriad of pumpkin, pecan, and apple pies have been swept from the tablecloth, there will be a countywide sign of contentment that will echo gently through the surrounding hills dulling the senses into a sweet slumber.
For most of us, life is good.
But as we prepare to enter the last month of the year with more festivities ahead, it would be worthy of our contentment to think of those who are not able to share in life’s fickle distribution of wealth and happiness.
There is no reason to recount in detail the devastation that a domino-like series of natural disasters has plagued our country of late. Social illnesses have not abated leaving a host of our countrymen low on money and low on hope. We have troops stationed all around the world supporting us in causes that are real and some thought to be imagined.
