One reason why deer can be a problem is that they are the largest native herbivores and notorious eating machines. They eat nearly anything vegetative and consume 3-5 percent of their body weight per day. And a good-sized adult buck can weigh up to 200 pounds. That’s 6-10 pounds of roses a day!

Deer can also transmit a variety of diseases, including tick-borne diseases, to each other, to domestic animals and to us.
