All roles are danced by local performers as well as some performers from Flint Hill and Washington, ages 5 to.....well, v older than the Skin Horse; and are directed by Linda Voelpel, ' the Academy’s Artistic Director.
The concert program features The Velveteen Rabbit Ballet •j and Nutcracker excerpts; and includes classical ballet, modem, hip-hop, jazz, tap, and acrobatic dancing performed to music ranging from Tchaikovsky, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, * ■' to Les Browne and His Band of Renown.
Our dancers are looking forward to sharing their love of dance in the hopes they can help others epjoy the Christmas holidays! The students, parents, and teachers are donating all of their time to this concert and have committed themselves to many hours of practice and rehearsal.

^LFCC to present Bird Watching
Program in December
Bird watching is the fastest growing outdoor activity as over 71 million Americans (1/5 of the population) have discovered. Bird watchers now outnumber hunters and fishers combined.
On Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005, at 7 p.m., the Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC) Scientific Society and the . Northern Shenandoah Valley Audubon Society will present a program on bird watching. Suited for all ages, the free event is open to the public and will be held in in the William H. McCoy Special Events Center located inside the Alson H. Smith, Jr. Technology Center on the Middletown Campus, located at 173 Skirmisher Lane in Middletown. ■ From beginners to experts, attendees will eiyoy viewing images of local birds as presented by LFCC professors Rob and Aim Simpson. Mr. Simpson is an associate professor of natural resources and Mrs. Simpson is an instructor in biology and - ^ anatomy and physiology. They will share their photographs, hints and stories on how to identify birds of Virginia, especially those commonly found in the Northern Virginia area. Attendees will also learn where to see birds, how to attract them to their backyards and how to properly use binoculars.
“The natural areas of the Northern Shenandoah Valley are in great danger of habitat destruction as development continues to rapidly destroy crucial areas in which Virginia wildlife can survive,” Mrs. Simpson said. “This program will provide .information on how to help our native birds survive by learning to identify and nourish the legacy of bird watching. Discover the thrill of birding, a hobby that people of all ages can eiyoy.”
