BENEFICIARIES
If a person named in your will to receive a specific gift does not survive you, an alternate beneficiary should be named. In fact, it is a good idea to name one or more alternate beneficiaries who will receive specific gifts left to primary beneficiaries in the event that a primary beneficiary predeceases you. This makes sense if you have made gifts to older individuals or you have younger relatives in poor health. You also might not want to be bothered with redoing your will in the unlikely event that a younger beneficiary dies before y ju. You might be concerned over not having the time or the inclination to revise your will. If so, it pays to cover this contingency.
