The Hazel River in
Rappahannock and Culpeper Counties has been nominated for recognition as a “Tier HI” or “Exceptional State Water.” If approved by the State Water Control Board, the designation will prohibit the addition of new sewage treatment plants on the Hazel, and prohibit any increase in capacity of sewage plants already discharging into the Hazel.
