Burglaries appear
connected
The Rappahannock County Sheriff5s Office is investigating a string of burglaries that have occurred in Rappahannock in the last month. According to Major Chris Williams, the RCSO believe the incidents are connected by a few similarities. All of the burglaries are believed to have taken place in the daytime, while the resi-' dents of the homes were not present. The items taken by the criminals have been similar as well, primarily cash and small , untraceable items. In addition, the RCSO believes that the same vehicle was used for most of the crimes, although they have not revealed what type to avoid coloring witness accounts.
“I want people to tell me what they see, not what they are expecting to see,” said Major Williams.
The RCSO believes that those responsible operate by knocking on the doors of homes they believe are unoccupied. If no one answers, the criminals force their way inside. If someone does answer, the RCSO suspect that the criminals pretend to be solicitors or employees of a lawn service. They would be interested in any information about suspicious persons knocking on doors or soliciting in the last month. The first robbery believed to be connected to the case happened on 11801116/8 Mill Road on May 11, and there have been at least three others since with the most recent occurring in Harris Hollow on May 30.
