This position will perform technical assignments in the Department of Community Development's Engineering Office. Duties include hydrologic, hydraulic, and technical review of development and construction plans; enforcement of applicable programs, codes, and ordinances; and inspection of active project sites. This position provides technical assistance to internal and external clientele and coordinates directly with government officials and other agencies. Qualified applicants should have a BS in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, or closely related fields, supplemented by four years previous experience and/or training that includes civil engineering, land development, water resource management and erosion/sedimentation control. Applicant must possess ability to obtain Virginia Professional Engineering (P.E.) license. The starting salary ranqe is $60,527.32 - $78,691.57.

Senior Planner

This position is within the Division of Zoning, Permitting & Inspections. Position manages review of site plan or other land development applications, coordinating with applicants, review agencies and the public. Other key responsibilities include: reviews land applications for conformance with zoning ordinance requirements, special permit and special exception conditions, and zoning proffers; prepares and presents staff analysis and reports to public bodies; provides technical assistance regarding the zoning ordinance to citizens, property owners, developers, design professionals, boards and commissions and other agencies; and attends, coordinates, participates and makes presentations at various committee and board meetings. Seek an individual with zoning experience. Minimum requirements include a B.A./B.S. degree in Planning or related field. The starting salary range is $52,292.86-$67,974.66.
